I have come to the conclusion that Masterpiece Theatre on PBS is a stroke of television genius. This has been developing over some time now, years in fact. But with their adaptation of Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte that has just finished tonight, it has become cemented into fact for me.
Every time that I have been able to catch one of the stories, I am amazed, dazzled even, over how well the interpretation is – which is greatly appreciated because one of my greatest pet-peeves is horrible adaptations of books into movies.
The next few weeks are going to be wonderful weeks of Masterpiece Theatre – two more books that I hold dearly, Sense & Sensibility and Oliver Twist, are slotted to be shown. I cannot wait.
